How To: Migrate Gizmo from one server to another

If you are moving Gizmo server from one server to another, follow the procedure below:

 

2.0.350 AND OLDER GIZMO VERSIONS

 

Backup the Old Server

  1. Backup Gizmo Database using "other backup methods" http://tinyurl.com/y8gcgnxx
  2. Backup Gizmo Configuration file (default location: "c:\Program Files (x86)\NETProjects\Gizmo Service\Service.json")
  3. Backup User Files (default location: "c:\Program Files (x86)\NETProjects\Gizmo Service\UserData\")

 

Restore to New Server 

  1. Install SQL Express (required for Gizmo Server)
    1. Windows 10 / Server 2017 http://tinyurl.com/yd8uuk3p
    2. Windows 7 / Server 2014 http://tinyurl.com/yd7vmo7p 
  2. Install SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2088649
  3. Restore Gizmo Database from backup using SQL Management Studio http://tinyurl.com/y72wbrdv
  4. Install Gizmo Server http://tinyurl.com/y8kqfklj DO NOT LAUNCH GIZMO SERVICE OR SETUP WIZARD YET
  5. Restore Gizmo Configuration file (default location: "c:\Program Files (x86)\NETProjects\Gizmo Service\Service.json")
  6. Restore User Files (default location: "c:\Program Files (x86)\NETProjects\Gizmo Service\UserData\")
  7. Setup Gizmo Server http://tinyurl.com/ycoqezgj. INPUT YOUR OLD DATABASE NAME ON STEP 2

You can now start your gizmo service and connect Gizmo Manager.

 

2.0.357 AND NEWER GIZMO VERSIONS

  5. Launch Gizmo Server
